What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a scheme enabling Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) to reclaim tax on donation made by UK taxpayers, effectively increasing the amount of the donation.

For every £1 received as an eligible donation, The Heatons Sports Club can claim an additional 25p from HMRC. This is a valuable and significant income source for the club.

Eligible Donations

In order for a donation to be eligible it must meet a specific set of criteria the individual making the donation must be a UK tax payer and must have paid the same amount or more in income tax or capital gains tax as the amount being reclaimed by the club.

The club cannot claim gift aid unless the donor explicitly gives permission. It is the responsibility of the donor to ensure they have paid sufficient tax.

Gift Aid cannot be claimed on donations from companies or donations made on behalf of someone else.

Donations must be optional and unconditional (i.e. not made in return for some benefit).

Members of the Heatons Sports Club understand how important these donations and the Gift Aid claimed are to the running of the club. Without these donations, the club would not be able to operate to it’s full potential. For this reason, and to make it as simple as possible for members to make a donation, a donation is included in the Membership Subscriptions. The amount of donation is detailed on the pricing page.

If you are unable or unwilling to make the donation, please contact us before proceeding with the purchase of a Membership Subscription plan.

Higher Rate Tax Payers

If you are a higher rate tax payer you can claim the difference between the rate you pay and the basic rate on your donation. For example if you are a 40% tax payer and you donate £100, The club can claim 25% as Gift Aid making the total donation £125. Since you paid 20% above the basic rate of tax you can claim back £125 x (40% – 20%) = £25.

You can claim this difference through your self assessment tax return or by contacting HMRC. For more information visit the HMRC website.

Gift Aid Declaration

When you purchase an eligible product from this website (typically a membership subscription) you will be asked to give us permission to claim Gift Aid on the checkout page.

By clicking the Gift Aid box you are making the following declaration:

  • I want to Gift Aid my donation and any donations I make in the future to The Heatons Sports Club Limited, Green Lane, Stockport. SK4 2NF.
  • I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference.
  • I will notify The Heatons Sports Club if I want to change this declaration, if I change my name or address, or if I no longer pay sufficient income/capital gains tax.
